Passport and customs checks
European Union (Schengen states*)
There are no passport and customs inspections for arrivals from states which are signatories to the Schengen Agreement. Use the exit marked with the Europe symbol when leaving the baggage reclamation area. Please have your passport or identity card at hand for any eventuality.
Non-European states/Non-Schengen states
If you are arriving from a non-European state or a state which is not a signatory to the Schengen Agreement, please proceed to the desk provided for passport inspection (for EU citizens or citizens of other countries). You can automatically access the baggage reclamation area and customs control after passport inspection.
You can also conveniently handle your border control yourself with the automated border control system Easypass on arrival in Terminal 3. To do so, you need an electronic passport of the European Union, the European Economic Area or Switzerland (in addition other passports after registration). For more information, see the Website of Easypass.

Choose the green exit if you have nothing to declare.
Please use the red exit if you have goods with you which should be declared or are carrying more than the approved quantity of such goods.
Goods declaration
Goods intended for retail, trade or commercial use should always be declared, regardless of their value. This also applies to goods subject to prohibitions or limitations (e.g. narcotics, weapons, ammunition, protected animals and plants). Infringements of the Washington Agreement on the Protection of Species will be strictly dealt with and can entail severe fines or custodial sentences. Product piracy is also not regarded as a minor offence! Please do not purchase any counterfeit products. Even the smallest quantities of such will be confiscated by customs officers and can result in prosecution.

Important for travellers to the USA:
As of 12 January 2009 all citizens of VWP-countries, who travel to the United States for business or private reasons, must request an ESTA-permission. For further information, please take a look at the website of the US-embassy.
customs checks
There are no regular customs checks for departures from Germany. Please note however that goods subject to export limitations must be declared in all cases. Customs officers conduct random inspections to prevent any abuses. Please contact your nearest customs office in good time prior to your journey if you are in any doubt as to whether goods which you wish to take abroad are subject to any permit regulations.
Baggage Claim
On entering the baggage claim area after your arrival, you can find your baggage carousel by checking the flight numbers on the display screens/panels. Baggage trolleys are also provided here for your convenience - free of charge, of course.
